A Database Tool Enabling Work Instruction Authors To Use The Methods Database Author Methods includes many of the functions of Methods, but prevents changes to the database structure set by the Methods database administrator.

Author Methods provides work instruction authors with the ability to:

• Browse the Methods database, and navigate the Methods structure which describes the manufacturing operations;
• Participate in the approve/release/archive workflow process for procedures;
• Generate ECN-driven revisions;
• Register the author's work instructions;
• Query the database for information, for example, what products will be affected if a particular sheet is modified;
• Search and replace items such as part numbers on work instruction sheets.

Within the TechView System DataWizard enables online Methods users to access information from other manufacturing databases or ODBC-compliant data sources within the TechView system. Use DataWizard to format the data display in a variety of styles, so that users have one consistent interface. DataWizard eliminates the need to buy seats and train users for other manufacturing data sources.
